St-Amant

Quebec painter St-Amant's works are distinctively fluid with sporadic touches of sometimes loud, some other times subtle surrealism which reveal a masterful artist who draws to the height of her sensivity.

Emotions at their purest are decisively the leitmotifs of this great contemporary artist whose figurative works are largely impregnated with classicism. The entirety of St-Amant's works are inspired by the artist's avid quest for the truth that lies beneath and within all things. Throughout her career, St-Amant explored a variety of themes, a prized series depicting subjects living with Alzheimer's disease being the initial catalyst having propelled the artist toward international recognition.

Here, painting people with an unmatched fervour to uncover their authenticity in all of its glory and splendor has clearly taken the center stage. The Artist's overall palette's explorations have regularly led her to the female body. In fact, nudity as an artform has become a means for St-Amant to bring innate dual artistic intentions together as she seeks to paint with the utmost emotional purity while contributing to heightened respect of women within our society through her art.

« I strongly believe that my expression of female nudity as a form of art likely instills esteem for women in society at large. It is a way for me to sincerely value and help restore women's freedom over the use of their body. I personally find it very important to be exposed to and be comfortable with nudity as it is an essential part of us as human beings. Respect for women comes with the acceptance and freedom of representation of the female body. »

St-Amant's artful use of brush strokes to express movement with a coloristic approach to portray emotion results in a very classical rendering of her subjects, all immersed in a symphony of dancing colors.

St-Amant's world, we discover, is one of extreme sensitivity and, again, emotions at their purest.
